Shashi Tharoor n' Controversy

Shashi Tharoor's flirts with controversy are quite intriguing.

Is there space for the intelligentsia in the present day political scenario ?

Does being on twitter, make him more accessible or less to the common man ? Then why the huge issue regarding his statement that after allocating quality time for his visitors at the Kerala House every day, he cannot stay there because he needs privacy during the rest of the day for official matters including reading and approving files from his ministry.

The media and his adversaries have made it a habit to pick bits from his various statements and quote them out of context. Mr. Sukumar Azhikode has honed this skill into a fine art deliberately misleading his audiences.

Looking after one's health by regular visits to a gym should be appreciated. Especially when one has to watch some of the politicians with tummies and cheeks showing no signs of drought or austerity ! Ms. Natarajan no exception here :-)

Has his moving into government quarters increased or decreased the cost to the exchequer? Nobody seems to care ! By the way, I wonder who will pay for repairing the train coach that got stoned recently.

Is creating and maintaining an image which is far from the real picture the order of the day ? Nobody seems to appreciate the openness Tharoor is potraying.

Why is nobody pulling up the journalist who initiated the "Cattle Class" reference. Simple, its because he has no star value.

I think Tharoor is making the mistake of over-estimating the intelligence of his fellow politicians and an overawed media. Barkha Dutt looked pathetic yesterday, interrupting a primetime Tharoor tweet discussion to crack a joke merely to draw attention to the fact that she is an alumnus of a premium educational institution.
